Artist statement

As an artist, I explore the theme of contemporary values, their mutation, expression, and the comparison among people from different cultures and places. The theme of values intertwines with the topics of dependency and the constancy of choice.
I'm also interested in the potential for creating alternative meanings through a reinterpretation of cultural, historical, and social symbols and their significance and place in the hierarchy of values.
It is important for me to invite the viewer into a dialogue through interactive ways of engaging with the audience. To facilitate this dialogue, I employ multidisciplinary approaches, incorporating painting, sculpture, and video into my projects. In painting, I often delve into abstraction, which serves as both a tool for direct access to a psychological state at a particular moment in time and a direct symbolization of such a state.
One of the key symbols in my practice is birds, representing companionship, contact between people, and the connection between an individual and their inner world. Currently, I am reimagining the cultural symbol of Alcatraz prison, allowing me to contemplate social and personal boundaries and ways to expand or abolish them.

Bio
Born in Kazan, USSR in 1989, I grew up in a multicultural environment, which shaped my sensitive approach to cultural and religious identity, the understanding of the potential for different interpretations of cultural contexts, and the intuitive acceptance of different points of view. As an artist, it is important for me to strive for conveying of multitude meanings in my projects. I have an education in economics and psychology, with a background in mathematics. This has formed an intuitive-analytical approach that I rely on in my artistic practice.
